“If we discuss the calls for a ceasefire and think about territorial exchanges, this is not a serious matter. The problem is not the territories, but the rights of people (in Ukraine), which have been seriously violated at the legislative level,” the minister stressed.
He recalled that citizens with limited rights “are not mentioned in any of the political initiatives” put forward by several countries acting as mediators in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Lavrov noted that we are talking specifically about the Russian-speaking population.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also said that organizing negotiations (on Ukraine) is not difficult, but Moscow sees no point in it due to the lack of constructive proposals.
“It is not a question of where to meet or in which circle, but of what to discuss,” Lavrov said.
