The minister recalled the words of the leaders of NATO states on the alliance’s leading role in the Asia-Pacific region. “NATO is advancing towards the Pacific Ocean region with an obvious goal – to undermine the ASEAN-centric architecture, which for many decades was built on the basis of equality, consensus and consideration of mutual interests,” Lavrov said during a discussion on the topic. “Multilateral cooperation in the interests of creating a more just, democratic and sustainable world order.”
Lavrov also stressed that the United States called on the West to prepare for protracted wars, and not only on the European continent. Washington continues to aggravate the situation. “The bloc and the entire OSCE space are not enough,” the diplomat stressed. As a substitute for ASEAN, states are creating closed confrontation blocs subordinate to them, such as AUCUS and other “various types of four and three.”
