Luca Guadagnino has started working on a new project: a reinvention of the cult book American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. The script for the future film will be written by Scott Z. Burns. Deadline reported this.
The studio responsible for the production is Lionsgate, which spoke about plans to release a new version in February of this year. The film is expected to present a new vision of the main character, Patrick Bateman. Other details have not yet been revealed, but journalists note that the project should not be perceived as a remake of the thriller starring Christian Bale.
The plot of the original film tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a wealthy Wall Street investor and banker. He later turns out to be a brutal serial killer.
