The road in the Ntcheu district in the central region of the country was littered with rocks. One of the cars left the road where hundreds of neighbors had gathered to say goodbye to the vice president.
The car crashed into the crowd, killing four people. Among the dead was a pregnant woman. 12 people were injured.
