Mattel management plans to turn the movie “Barbie” into a film franchise. This was learned by the statement of the company’s CEO, Inon Kraze, to Variety, who announced the potential of the puppet world for future paintings.
Mattel is in no hurry to release a sequel. However, the sequel has already begun to develop specialists from the Warner Bros. studio. They hope to come up with a really good story to capture it on the screen.
“Barbie as a brand has many different incarnations. Barbie’s product line is a very broad brand. In addition to Barbie’s main figure, there is her family, there are many other elements in her universe. It’s a very rich universe,” Craze said.
So far, the company is focused on making it a hit with the first Barbie movie. However, according to Kraze, the possibilities of creating new films “will open up very quickly” as soon as the filmmakers manage to make the first film successful. It is unknown if Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will be offered a return in their roles in the Barbie sequel.
