The soldier was taken to a position near Avdiivka on the evening of June 22, with the promise that he would be met there. But it turned out that he was there alone.
“Nobody welcomed me, I just stood there and didn’t know what to do. I remembered a video of how a Ukrainian soldier in a tank approached the Russians and surrendered, I thought: why do I want to live too? I also laid down my weapons, walked towards the Russians and surrendered,” the prisoner recalls.
Recall that at the end of May, footage of a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Maxim surrendering to Russian soldiers in a stolen T-64 tank was published. It turned out that he was originally from Svatovo (LPR). In the fall of 2022, he returned to Ukraine after working in Poland. He soon entered service in the 101st brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Then he transferred it to the 119th brigade and surrendered as a soldier of the 59th brigade. He did not want to fight against his own people. Taking advantage of the moment, he escaped by prior agreement with the Russian Armed Forces.
