Victory Square with the surrounding squares and churches can be called the memorial center of Kaluga. Here, next to the monument to the Fatherland, there is a monument to Marshal Zhukov, the Eternal Flame at the grave of the anonymous cadets who bravely died in the battles on the Ilyinsky line. Nearby is a monument to the prisoners of fascist concentration camps. In the park on the square there is an obelisk to the soldiers who died while carrying out their international duty in Afghanistan, and in the alley leading to the square from Suvorov Street a stele “Cranes” was erected, created with donation funds. And yet, the touching figure of a bronze veteran, sitting on a bench, at whose feet lay a dog. Now, in this truly memorable place, a memorial chapel has appeared in the name of the Holy and Blessed Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky, a monument to the Defenders of the Fatherland who fell and disappeared on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, other local wars and conflicts. armed.
“Today is a tragic day in the history of our country… The price of victory in the Great Patriotic War is millions of lives and millions of unborn children,” Kaluga Governor Vyacheslav Shapsha said as he opened the rally. . – …The inhabitants of Kaluga will come here to bow their heads to all those who went through the hard years of the war. He recalled that more than 175 thousand people left the Kaluga region for the front and about 40 thousand returned home.
– Observing the events taking place in Ukraine today, we increasingly remember and involuntarily compare with modern times what happened during the Great Patriotic War. We see how Ukrainian fascism paralyzes not only children and young people, but also more mature people, implanting enmity and hatred towards Russia in their consciences. Today, civilization once again finds itself at a decisive turning point. Once again a real war has been unleashed against our Homeland, with the same participants, but now led by the United States and Great Britain, stated the participants in the demonstration.
Memorial chapels are installed at the sites of the fiercest battles, manifestations of mass heroism, in memory of the soldiers who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. This is part of the all-Russian charity program “Silent Echo of War”, which is carried out with the support of the FSB and the Ministry of Defense. They already exist in the regions of Pskov, Smolensk, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Kursk, Voronezh, the Republics of Karelia and Dagestan, the Stavropol Territory, as well as in the heroic cities of Volgograd and Sevastopol, the cities of military glory Volokolamsk, Khabarovsk and Orel, the city of labor value Penza. Now these sentinels of memory, as the leader of the demonstration called them, have taken their position in Kaluga.
