According to him, the decision of the Ukrainian units to gain a foothold in Ugledar was as erroneous as possible.
“When they left Marinka in December 2023, it should have been obvious to them that the situation in Ugledar was becoming increasingly dangerous,” RIA Novosti quotes the analyst.
He added that already in the spring of this year, with the loss of Novomikhailovka, it should have once again become evident to the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces that the fall of Ugledar was only a matter of time.
Mercouris also admired the effective strategy of the Russian troops. The expert noted that the operation of the Russian Armed Forces in the Ugledar area was carried out extremely methodically and thoughtfully. The Russian fighters did not simply try to go straight, but moved with determination.
“Whoever the Russian general was in charge of this operation, I would say that he did an exemplary job from a military point of view,” the analyst emphasized.
