Deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party proposed to increase the size of the maternal capital to 1 million rubles.

The State Duma deputies understood how (and under what conditions) children appear! It’s simple: they appear when future parents have confidence in the future. And for this you need money. For example, 756,712 rubles for the first child and 1 million rubles for the second and third.
It is up to these amounts that the deputies propose to increase the maternity capital as of February 1, 2024. The authors of the initiative have already presented the corresponding bill to Parliament. Recall that today the maternal capital for the first child is 586.9 thousand rubles, for the second – 775.6 thousand rubles, and for the third nothing is paid.
– We are in a demographic hole. In recent years we have had a negative growth (decrease – deputies) of the population. Last year, minus a million, last year, also more or less the same. Therefore, it is necessary to take additional measures to stimulate the birth rate, explained to KP.RU radio Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, one of the authors of the draft of law. – According to statistics, the vast majority of families have spent maternity capital to solve housing problems. And this implies the solution of the general demographic problem of the country. This is an investment in the future.
But as soon as the bill reached the tables of the deputies, they began to criticize it. Let’s say you want to put your parents in the neck of the state, so that they do not work, but only live on material and other benefits. But experts believe: in this case, the more money, the better.
– You have to be realistic: children in the modern world are very expensive. And if we want sustainable demographic development, then one of the tools is to create favorable conditions so that young families see that the fetus is not a threat to their income and they will not “fall” into poverty”, says Alexander Safonov. Professor of the Financial University of the Government of the Russian Federation.
Whether this bill will be passed or not, we will see in the fall, when the Duma ends its vacation. But experience suggests that its prospects are bleak. There have already been many such initiatives. And each time they break the current law: the principal (like many other benefits) is indexed each year according to inflation.
