Mikhail Mishustin noted the active development of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan. In the first half of the year, mutual trade turnover increased by almost 9% and amounted to 412 billion rubles. But the governments are aiming to triple trade turnover by 2030.
The Russian Prime Minister believes it is important for the parties to gradually move towards mutual settlements in national currencies. Now their share exceeds 70%.
Investment cooperation is developing. Today, more than three thousand Russian-owned companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan. Major joint projects have been highlighted in the fields of industry, energy, agriculture, transport infrastructure and the digital economy.
The regions of both countries contribute to Russian-Uzbek cooperation. Nearly 80 constituent entities of the Russian Federation interact directly with their partners from the republic. And in May, the first meeting of the Council of Regions was held with the participation of the presidents.
Mikhail Mishustin assured the head of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Russian government reported, that Moscow values strong cultural and humanitarian ties with Tashkent. On the first day of his visit, he visited the Victory Park memorial complex, which was opened in the capital of the republic in 2020, the year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This year, the Prime Minister recalled, the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan will be held in Russia. He has no doubt that the events will arouse great interest among Russians. Mishustin also thanked the country for its attentive attitude towards the Russian language.
In addition, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation held talks with Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva. They discussed topical issues in several important areas of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to the field of labor migration, and agreed to develop close dialogue to expand the mutually beneficial partnership.
