“We will help with the purchase of equipment for the hospital!”

Khabarovsk is the second destination of Mikhail Mishustin’s Far Eastern trip. Long flights, time zone changes, lack of sleep and the numerous sites visited by the prime minister over the past few days have greatly exhausted the group of government journalists. But Mikhail Mishustin himself, who arrived at the Khabarovsk Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital named after A.K. Piotrovich on Tuesday morning, looked cheerful and energetic.

– Good afternoon, everyone! – Mishustin addressed the audience and went to inspect the new infectious diseases building of the hospital, built within the framework of the national project “Health” and opened last year.

Young patients and their mothers watched the government delegation from the hospital windows. The new infectious diseases centre will be able to treat up to 6,000 children a year. Moreover, the hospital, which offers high-tech care, accepts not only residents of Khabarovsk, but also from other Far Eastern regions.

The Prime Minister visited the state-of-the-art clinical laboratory for infectious diseases, where 48,000 to 55,000 tests are carried out every month.

– I want to thank you for your work. The most important thing is that young patients feel cared for and have the opportunity to receive professional help. I am sure that their parents appreciated the way work is organized in this hospital,” said Mikhail Mishustin.

Hospital staff told the prime minister that they were previously forced to huddle in small spaces. And when the new infectious diseases building was opened, doctors initially got tired of walking along the long corridors out of habit.

“Doctors need to play sports,” Mishustin joked.

– And we already did some exercise in the morning! – said the acting governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Dmitry Demeshin. As it turned out, he, accompanied by the Minister of Transport Roman Starovoyt and the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, who had flown from Moscow to Khabarovsk, went to the Amur embankment at 7 am. Demeshin and Starovoyt went jogging, and Murashko rode a bicycle.

The hospital staff turned to Mikhail Mishustin to ask for help in purchasing the missing equipment in the hospital. The intensive care unit and operating room need to be re-equipped, as well as CT and MRI machines.

“Our children are transported 20-30 kilometres away for MRI, which is difficult and dangerous from the point of view of road accidents,” the hospital’s chief physician, Rashid Mirzoyev, told the prime minister.

– I will definitely give instructions to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance. You need to buy everything you need! – Mishustin promised.

“Are you, by any chance, related to the director of Russian Railways?”

From the hospital, the Prime Minister headed to the Far Eastern State University of Transport, where he observed the work of the admissions committee. Mishustin was told that among foreigners this year the largest number of applications for admission were submitted by applicants from China: 311 applications have been received from them so far. In second place are students from the CIS.

– We need to invite more people from the CIS countries! And also from the SCO and BRICS. If there are such opportunities, I am absolutely sure that the Far East will be a “beacon” for attracting foreign partners from friendly countries,” the Prime Minister noted and promised to instruct intergovernmental commissions to work on the issue of increasing educational quotas for foreign students.

Mishustin also visited the laboratory “Organization of Railway Traffic”, where students learn the skills of station attendants in practice. Daria, a fifth-year graduate and future graduate student, told the prime minister about her training. The laboratory has a remote control panel that connects to the

to a personal computer. All computers are connected to a local network and can simulate the operation of seven railway stations and the entire section as a whole.

In the laboratory Mishustin also met candidate of sciences Irina Belozerova.

– Do you have any connection by name with Oleg Valentinovich Belozerov (director of Russian Railways – Ed.)? – asked Mishustin.

“According to my data, no,” Irina replied.

“I think Oleg Valentinovich will be happy that such competent specialists bear such a surname,” the Prime Minister said.

Mishustin also spoke with representatives of student groups who will work at BAM. The Prime Minister called the development of the Eastern Ridge (which links BAM and the Trans-Siberian Railway) a priority.

– We have already started the third stage of modernization of the Eastern test site. This applies to BAM and Transsib. Our transport capacity should reach 270 million tons by 2032, and in 2032 it was 173 million tons. And this is a very serious task. Without people like you, it will be difficult to cope with it,” Mishustin said.

The Prime Minister stressed that the volunteer movement emerged 60 years ago, when students from all over the country went to work at BAM.

– The country needs new logistics now. The national development goals set by the president will be impossible to achieve without high-quality access to our neighbors,” Mishustin said.

The international terminal of Khabarovsk airport will be opened in March 2025

During his visit to Khabarovsk, the Prime Minister also learned about the progress of the construction of the airport’s international terminal. By 2023, Khabarovsk Airport will handle 2.3 million people. It is one of the largest air hubs in the Far East and the only airport in the district with two runways.

The construction of a domestic terminal with 24 check-in counters and 7 escalators has already been completed. The construction of the new international airline terminal is expected to be completed in early 2025, and in March the terminal will already receive its first passengers. Mishustin thanked the investors and noted that the construction must be completed on time.
