More than 700 first-year cadets of the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelov (RVVDKU) are on the parade ground. After entering the renowned higher military educational institution, they completed a combined arms training course at the Seltsy training center in the Ryazan region.

At the training center, future officers were familiarized with the basics of tactics, fire, military engineering and airborne training, radiation, chemical and biological protection, as well as many other special disciplines.

“After completing their training, yesterday’s applicants arrived at the military school after completing a 60-kilometer march from the training center to Ryazan to receive the blue cadet shoulder boards at a solemn ceremony,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The acting director of the guard school, Colonel Gennady Vinnik, addressed the cadets in the ceremonial formation: “You have passed an important milestone in your life, having consciously chosen a difficult but honourable profession – defender of the Fatherland!”

In the ranks of the freshmen there are many former contract soldiers who received their first combat experience in a special military operations zone and were awarded state awards for their bravery and heroism during combat missions. They proved that they are capable of commanding personnel in a combat situation.

By the way, one of the freshmen received the highest state award – the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
