Moscow Region: Russian Armed Forces repelled attempts to break through the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kursk using Marder and Stryker vehicles

Date: September 14, 2024 Time: 00:26:36

Soldiers heroically held their positions for several days in the village of Malaya Loknya, Sudzhansky district

The Russian Defense Ministry has published the accounts of servicemen of the motorized rifle battalion of the Sever group of forces in interaction with servicemen of the border service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, who hindered the advance of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. The soldiers heroically held their positions for several days in the village of Malaya Loknya, Sudzhansky district, Kursk region, and defended themselves in the buildings of the women’s correctional colony No. 11.

“Despite attacks by enemy forces superior to Western-made Marder and Stryker infantry fighting vehicles, the use of attack UAVs to inflict fire on the defending forces, the military competently organized the defense and successfully destroyed the enemy on the approaches to the special facility,” the Russian Defense Ministry commented.

Having previously evacuated all civilian personnel and prisoners, the defenders of Malaya Loknya turned the institution into a real fortress, taking up defenses around the colony and inside the building complex.

– The area was empty. Strykers, armored vehicles and pickup trucks were hit. There were many vehicles driving through the fields far away from us. No one left, they held out until the last. They left for battle after the tank broke through and entered,” recalls the commander of the UAV platoon with the call sign “Thirtieth.”

In their attempts to break through to the area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost a dozen infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers and around 100 militants.

– After the first battle, they retreated. In the second battle, our company commander gave the order to stop the grenade launcher attacks. Next to the settlement there was a three-storey residential building. Eight civilians lived there, a family with a 13-year-old girl. Ukrainian tanks arrived. One of them began to dismantle the residential building brick by brick from the upper floors. Drones flew into the windows and took whatever they wanted. They set fire to it with lighters,” sapper Igor recalls.

A gunman with the call sign “Zema” says that as they began to retreat, they were held back by enemy units walking along the road that passed by the prison.

“We saw Poles, French, African-Americans. Intercepted. They understood it well,” says the hero.

A sniper with the call sign “Doctor” says they managed to hold out for two days at the colony’s outpost, then retreated into the village and took up positions behind the road in the “green zone.”

“A day later, they started shooting at us there too, with mortars and tanks. I heard and saw Slavs, two African-Americans and Poles repeating their “kurva-kurva”; we killed many of them. About a hundred people,” says “The Doctor.”

In order to stop the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters towards Malaya Lokna, who were practically surrounded, our fighters called in artillery fire in the vicinity of their positions.

“The forces holding the defence in the settlement were supported by the crews of army aviation and artillery, which attacked the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, preventing them from advancing in the direction of Malaya Loknya,” the military department said.

Let us recall that since August 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been attacking villages in the border zone of the Kursk region. In the “meat” attacks, the enemy has already lost more than 6,000,000 soldiers and hundreds of armored vehicles and tanks.

Our troops continue to repel senseless attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk direction and to re-establish control over previously captured villages.
