All delegates of the congress took part in the voting. There are 129 people representing 62 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Mufti Ravil Gainutdin has headed the Muslim Spiritual Directorate since 1994.
“According to the new statutes of the organization, the chairman of the Muslim Spiritual Board of the Russian Federation, Gainutdin, becomes the chief mufti. No violations were recorded during the voting, everything is as usual. After summing up the results, the protocol and other documents will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. Mufti Gainutdin will take office from the moment of re-election,” RIA Novosti quotes the press service of the Muslim Spiritual Board of Russia as saying.
