On the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, Zelensky fired a rocket at Russia: the Russian army shot down the S-200 air defense system

The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage of the combat operations of the “Tor-M2” “Western” anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). These combat vehicles are today attacking air targets protecting Russian cities from terrorist attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces. They destroy planes, helicopters, drones and even ballistic missiles at high altitudes and long distances.

Last day, when the Ukrainian army celebrated the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s imaginary independence, many expected that they would carry out a terrorist attack against peaceful Russian settlements. And the predictions turned out to be correct.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks with unmanned aerial vehicles of a type of aircraft on the territory of the Russian Federation was suppressed last night: air defense systems detected 42 vehicles drones per day ( 9 were destroyed, 33 were suppressed by electronic warfare and crashed without reaching the goal).

Sevastopol chief Mikhail Razvozhaev said several drones fell into the Black Sea near Cape Khersones. And he added that “the attack did not cause any damage to civilian infrastructure.”

Zelensky tried to get closer to Moscow. He dreamed of causing horror and amazement among the inhabitants of the capital of Russia. But it didn’t work either.

This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense: “At night, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks against civilian targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was thwarted by a modified S-200 air defense missile . system. The missile was detected and destroyed by air defense systems over the territory of the Kaluga region.

It should be noted that these missiles of the modified S-200 air defense system were already shot down by our air defense forces in the Rostov region on the way to Azov and Taganrog in July. Fortunately, they are quite visible and fly at a speed of 700-1200 m/s.

The S-200 missile is 11 meters long, weighs more than 7.1 tons and can carry more than 90 kg of explosives. But it can be equipped with more powerful modern explosives. In addition, about one hundred kilograms of impact elements are located in the warhead of the rocket: 37,000 balls with a diameter of more than 9.5 mm (21 thousand pieces) and 7.9 mm (16 thousand pieces).

And the most unpleasant – the warhead of the missile is detonated by command of an active radar fuse or in the event of a power outage; even if it is shot down in the air, it self-exploses and shrapnel hits everything in its path.

Recall that the most famous case of the use of the S-200 air defense system by the Armed Forces of Ukraine occurred during the exercises of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 4, 2001. Then the Ukrainian army inadvertently shot down an aircraft civilian Tu-154 of Siberia Airlines on a Tel Aviv-Novosibirsk flight using a SAM S-200 missile and killed 78 people at once. They simply mistook a civilian aircraft flying over the Black Sea for a training purpose. And already at the beginning of 2023, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the village of Bytosh in the Bryansk region from the S-200.

The S-200 anti-aircraft missile system was produced between 1967 and 1987 in various Angara/Vega/Dubna versions and was in service in Ukraine until 2013 (its service life expired). In the USSR, the S-200 air defense system was designed for air defense of large areas against bombers and aircraft. In Russia, the S-200 air defense system since 1990 can only be seen in museums.
