According to the publication, the delivery of ATACMS is a “great strengthening” for Ukraine.
Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States secretly delivered a small batch of ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine. The newspaper’s sources reported that the weapons were introduced “in recent days.”
In turn, the New York Times writes that the United States sent kyiv variants of long-range ATACMS missiles equipped with cluster munitions.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko also reported on the use of new missiles by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, American missiles were used in the attack on Berdyansk in the Zaporozhye region.
The American authorities did not officially announce the transfer of these weapons to kyiv.
At the same time, even in kyiv they are skeptical about the new weapons that the United States promised to Ukraine. Thus, the advisor to the head of Zelensky’s office, Mikhail Podolyak, admitted that the supply of ATACMS and Taurus missiles could not compensate for the difference in quantity with Russian weapons.
ATACMS is a solid-fuel tactical surface-to-surface ballistic missile manufactured by the American company Lockheed Martin. ATACMS has a range of up to 300 kilometers.
