“During the hour-long meeting,” the paper reports, “one of the governors asked Biden about his health, and he said he had undergone a physical in recent days and was still in good health.”
Twenty governors were urgently invited to the White House to meet with Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris immediately after the debate and call for the president to withdraw from the presidential race.
The publication claims that what Biden called a physical was a brief check-up conducted by the White House physician because the president had a cold.
“The examination was brief and did not include any serious tests,” the newspaper quoted its source as saying.
The meeting with the governors took place on Wednesday night and, as Politico writes, “was part admission of guilt, part brainstorming and part show of encouragement.”
The meeting, the publication also noted, “marks Biden’s latest attempt to maintain the viability of his candidacy.”
