“We need to further increase the economic opportunities of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region,” the Head of State emphasized. “The important thing is to do it in a comprehensive manner, based on long-term plans for the development of the entire agglomeration, taking into account that the city and the region are closely connected.”
At the same time, he described the strengthening of priority industries as key. Among them, the president mentioned shipbuilding and the pharmaceutical industry. According to him, it is also important to develop the service sector and creative industries, as well as expand foreign trade infrastructure. This last task will have to be achieved, among other things, through the development of ports and maritime terminals.
“All this is the key to creating modern, well-paid jobs,” Putin said.
According to him, it is important to increase the production of high-tech products and services and create a basis for the opening of new companies.
Putin also spoke of the need to improve the accessibility of transport links in several large residential areas, so that St. Petersburg residents do not have to travel for hours to work or study.
