On Thursday, Vladimir Putin arrived in Ufa to meet with athletes, Paralympic athletes returning from Paris and to open new physical education facilities.
– Today it is already obvious that they are trying to make world sport and the Olympic movement not an arena for fair competitions, but a platform for geopolitical games, to instill a destructive and neoliberal agenda, propaganda against natural norms and pseudo-freedoms. We promote new formats of cooperation, true ideals and principles of sport. This is nobility and respect for the dignity of an opponent, for strong opponents. “We treat all our opponents with respect,” said Vladimir Vladimirovich at the opening of the “Russia, a sports power” forum.
Prior to this, the president inaugurated new sports facilities across the country via video link:
– In Ufa there is a slalom rowing complex.
– In Neftekamsk there is a new sports complex “Anfibios”.
– In Perm there is a multifunctional sports complex “Energia”.
– In Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, there is a regional sports preparation center for adaptive sports.
– Within the framework of the Gazprom program for children, the Tulitsa multifunctional sports complex in Tula and the Volna water sports center in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk were built.
The head of the country said that since 2019, 160 billion rubles have been invested in the construction of sports facilities, from swimming pools and stadiums to sports fields near the house. New equipment was delivered to 760 sports schools. As a result, more people began to play sports: from 40% to 56.8%.
“But this is still not enough, we have to continue working,” concluded the Russian leader.
Vladimir Putin especially highlighted the achievements of our athletes at the Paralympic Games in France.
“The example of our brilliant and brave Paralympic athletes is also invaluable. Despite all the obstacles and restrictions, and strong psychological pressure at the recent Paris Games, they once again confirmed the leading positions of Russian sport and once again proved that our guys are real and genuine leaders and will not give in to no one in terms of perseverance. strength of spirit and character, – stressed the Head of State.
