Contacts between the two countries are friendly and constructive, Putin said. “I am sure that our relations will strengthen regardless of the outcome of the elections in your country,” he said, wishing the people of Iran a successful second round of the presidential elections.
The Russian leader noted that the level of trade volume between Russia and Iran has increased by 14% this year. “The free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran will certainly contribute to further strengthening our economic ties,” Putin said. He added that the EAEU member states are considering Tehran’s request for observer status in this organization. “We, for our part, will support it,” he said.
“Tourist flows between the Russian Federation and Iran are intensifying,” Putin said. “The number of tourists to Iran has increased by a quarter,” he said.
The President of the Russian Federation also noted the similarity of positions of Moscow and Tehran on many international issues, including the commitment to sharing a multipolar world, compliance with international law and recognition of the central role of the UN.
