At 84, Ralph Lauren is proving not with words but with actions that, firstly, age is no obstacle to work and, secondly, if you do something, do it well. In Lauren’s case, this is also on a grand scale.
For the spring-summer collection, the designer chose the Bridgehampton horse farm, one of the most expensive locations due to its luxury real estate. The guest list was in no way inferior to the scope of the show: Jill Biden, Tom Hiddleston, Nara Smith, Naomi Watts, Jude Law, Usher, Colman Domingo. And that’s not even counting Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Lucky Blue on the catwalk.
Ralph Lauren presented a show in the best traditions of the fashion house that bears his name, combining all the lines on a single platform: Ralph Lauren Collection, Ralph Lauren Purple Label and Polo Ralph Lauren.
According to foreign colleagues, before the fair, the youngest son, David Lauren, made a short excursion with journalists and editors to show how the vintage cars used in the exterior (for example, a red Ferrari from the 70s) organically complement the interior and the collection itself. This collection is based on the classics that Ralph Lauren so respects and that continue to make a name for himself for himself for more than half a century.
Despite her ardent feeling for classics, Lauren loves to combine them with a casual wardrobe. The place itself demanded it. Milky men’s suits and floor-length organza dresses appeared on the catwalk; boiling white trousers paired with a loose lurex shirt; halterneck dresses (they look equally good both in the office and outside it) and evening models with a bustier, as if made of the smallest shiny squares; tuxedos and cargo suits paired with a cropped sweater. Shorts were worn with knitted worker vests, ripped sequined jeans with a classic trench coat (but with the sleeves rolled up), and basic white tank tops with a long skirt with jeweled fringe and a western belt.
On their feet, the models wore elegant sandals, velvet loafers with RL prominently displayed, woven sandals and espadrilles, classic jackets and casual knit sweaters draped over their shoulders, and leather bags and totes with flowers in their hands.
