Repeated calls from scammers will be automatically blocked: New service launched to combat intruders

Date: September 16, 2024 Time: 14:49:30

T-Mobile notes that nowadays scammers use different channels, scripts, attack from different numbers and pretend to be pseudo-employees of government departments. The combination of these techniques, which they use intensively in a short period of time, does not allow the person to come to his senses, he succumbs to panic and begins to trust the scammer and follow all his instructions. In this regard, it is very important to protect the person from all attempts of the scammer to reach him.

To address this issue, T-Mobile has launched a free “Temporary Block” service. The mobile operator will now automatically block fraudulent calls once they are detected.

The temporary blocking will apply not only to calls from scammers via the telephone network, but also via instant messengers. It will only work with fraudulent calls from unknown numbers. The user himself will be able to make outgoing calls as usual and receive incoming calls from verified numbers.

The subscriber will be warned about the blocking of scammers. He will receive a message about its duration – the blocking time will be calculated individually for each client using AI and machine learning models. After the blocking is over, the client will also receive an SMS notification. While the blocking is active, all calls from unknown numbers will be redirected to a free Secretariat phone. The subscriber will be able to view transcripts of all such calls. Calls in instant messengers will not be active during the blocking period. They will appear as missed calls in the Messenger call log.

The new service complements T-Mobile’s Neuroshield anti-fraud technology, which uses artificial intelligence to identify scammers during a phone call and terminate the connection. After this, the attacker’s number is added to the list for automatic blocking. But scammers don’t sleep either. To “finish off” their victim, they make several calls at once, even from different numbers, and also actively switch to instant messengers, where technological protection against scammers is not yet so developed. The new service will become an additional barrier against attackers. The “Temporary Blocking” technology is activated automatically and free of charge for T-Mobile customers who have activated the free “Call Protection” service. If desired, temporary blocking can be disabled in the support chat.

– Previously, with the help of Neuroshield, we detected an attacker’s attempt to engage in dialogue with a customer, interrupted it and sent a signal to T-Bank to conduct a thorough check of financial transactions. However, as practice has shown, some fraudsters continue to attack customers with calls, including via instant messengers, where they are more difficult to detect. Temporary blocking technology allows you to solve these problems. Moreover, with minimal concern for the customer, because he continues to be in touch for really useful calls and maintains control over calls during the blocking period,” said T-Mobile CEO Vitaly Briedis.
