The draft federal law “On renaming the city of Rostov” has the support of the Russian Government, according to the conclusion sent to the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Yaroslavl Regional Duma.
Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Evraev considers this a major step towards restoring historical justice and hopes to complete all legal procedures this year. According to the head of the Yaroslavl region, the conclusion was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko.
We will remind you that last year the residents of Rostov conducted a poll on the topic of renaming the city. The initiative was supported by many famous personalities, including Valentina Tereshkova and Zurab Tsereteli.
The name change will not require additional funding from the federal budget. The territorial authorities’ expenses associated with the production of new stamps, forms, seals and labels will be incurred within the limits of previously established allocations.
