Russia has become one of the four largest meat producers in the world, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was pleased when listing our achievements in the field of agriculture during a meeting with the chairman of the board of directors of Rosselkhozbank, Boris Listov.

Only agricultural monsters like China, the United States and Brazil remain ahead.
In general, there is no special miracle in this. For several years now, Russia has been among the world’s five largest producers of pork and poultry (it is already in second place for turkey) and among the top ten for beef.
In 2024, if we believe our native Rosstat, we should have even more meat. Only the production of goat and lamb meats, which are not the most popular, has decreased, but beef and pork are breaking records.
However, when talking about our production records, the average consumer is mainly concerned with the question of what will happen to prices: if there is more of something, maybe it will start to become cheaper?
According to Rosstat data, the price of chicken continues to fall (-4% compared to the beginning of the year), but after the price increase that scared many last year. The price of pork is increasing at a fairly humane rate, by today’s standards, plus 3% since the beginning of the year. Beef: almost more than 9%.

This financially supports our producers, contributes to the influx of capital into the industry and, in addition, increases the income of the rural population, which, frankly, has room to grow. And most importantly, it allows them to solve their problems not at the expense of a sharper increase in prices for Russian buyers. Of course, in such a situation, there is always the threat that someone will try to raise domestic prices closer to world prices.
