According to the Russian Chess Federation (RFC), Beshukov died on Saturday after a long illness. The federation noted that he was an “energetic organizer of chess competitions” and that he did much to popularize and develop chess in the Southern Federal District.
“The Russian Chess Federation expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the FCR said in a statement.
Beshukov received the title of international grandmaster in 1994. He has won victories and prizes in numerous international and Russian tournaments. In 1999 he won the national team championship.
Since 2018 he has become an arbiter of the International Chess Federation and, since 2019, an organizer of FIDE.
