Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov took part in the meeting of the CIS Defence Council in Minsk

Date: July 6, 2024 Time: 05:00:56

The heads of military departments of the CIS member countries, meeting in Minsk on Wednesday, made decisions on improving joint military systems until 2030.

“Decisions have been made to improve joint military systems,” said Andrei Belousov, Chairman of the Council of Defence Ministers of the CIS member states, summing up the meeting of the Council of Defence Ministers of the CIS member states.

The head of the military institution noted that the heads of military institutions, in particular, have already approved the main directions and measures for the development of the Joint System for Monitoring and Assessment of the NBC Situation, the principles for the formation of an organizational and technical structure, the construction and operation of the Joint (Unified) Communications System, approaches to organizing the training of national engineering units for operation as part of the Joint Engineering Unit for Humanitarian Demining.

The armies of the Commonwealth states also plan to develop joint educational and scientific activities in the field of information security and patriotic education, as well as jointly resolve various personnel and financial issues.

At the same time, Belarusian experience in developing the military and professional qualities of defenders of the Fatherland will be used to a large extent to build new ties. But combat training will be supplemented by the experience of Russian units, which they acquired during military operations in Syria and in the zone of special military operations.

All this is already important for ensuring the security of the Union State, the CSTO, the Eurasian Economic Union, the CIS and the SCO.

It should be noted that Andrei Belousov, in his speech in Minsk, explained that one after another the CIS countries will face the same thing that happened to Ukraine.

“It was the West that prepared and provoked the Ukrainian crisis, and is now deliberately prolonging it. At the same time, Western countries are in every possible way tolerating the widespread imposition of Nazism in its most acute forms by the Provisional Government of Ukraine, making every effort to distort the historical truth,” Belousov said, recalling that 2025 has been declared in the Commonwealth as the Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism.

He also stressed that the lessons of that war “remain relevant.”

The heads of military departments of the CIS countries in Minsk honoured the memory of Soviet soldiers, partisans and underground fighters who died during the Great Patriotic War by laying flowers at the Victory Monument.
