Russian folk artist Alexander Sibirtsev dies in Samara – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

“The staff of the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after DD Shostakovich expresses its deepest condolences to Dmitry Aleksandrovich Sibirtsev, to the family and friends of Alexander Sergeevich,” the message reads.

Alexander Sibirtsev graduated from the Moscow Conservatory. Since 1993 he is a soloist of the Samara Opera and Ballet Theater. People’s Artist of Russia, winner of the State Prize of Russia named after MI Glinka, Honored Cultural Worker of the Polish Republic. Awarded the medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, degree II. He began his vocal career as a baritone, singing more than 20 roles, including Evgeny Onegin, Eletsky, Robert, Figaro and others. Then he continued his creative path as a dramatic tenor, forming an extensive repertoire (more than 50 roles): Herman, Othello, Manrico, Radames, Sobinin, Pretender, Andrei Khovansky, Prince Golitsyn and many others. The singer’s extensive chamber repertoire included works by Russian and Western European composers. From 1993 to 2001, Alexander Sergeevich was director of the Samara Theater. Over the years he taught at GITIS, the Perm Pedagogical Institute, the Samara Institute of Culture and the Samara Pedagogical University, training a whole galaxy of student vocalists.
