The army of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic is armed not only with weapons of Soviet and Russian manufacture, but also with various types of equipment, including the famous Soviet all-terrain military amphibious vehicles.
As part of Russian-Lao military cooperation, these vehicles underwent routine technical inspections and necessary repairs last year at one of the Russian factories.
Now Laotians face the consequences of a devastating flood, which also affected some neighborhoods in the country’s capital, Vientiane.
Soldiers and officers of the Laotian army came to the aid of the civilian population, evacuating hundreds of people whose lives were in danger from the affected areas using all-terrain amphibious military vehicles. In addition, hundreds of cattle were transported from the flooded areas on floating vehicles.

Floods are one of the most frequent and dangerous natural disasters in Southeast Asia. After numerous publications in the Lao press about the effectiveness of military amphibians, the rescue services and defense departments of some neighboring Lao states in the region began to show interest in this technology, now manufactured in Russia.
