Russia’s coal supplies to China could reach 100 million tons by 2025 – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: September 17, 2024 Time: 08:38:07

In the first half of 2024, coal exports decreased by 8% to 45.5 million tons.

“We are now on a plateau, no sharp growth is expected. Starting from 2025, we expect an increase in supplies to China, probably to a level of at least 100 million tons per year,” Tsivilev said.

The minister explained that the export dynamics are affected by tariffs imposed by Beijing, falling world prices and rising logistics and production costs. Russia’s export growth can be ensured by coking coal, according to the Ministry of Energy.

In 2023, Russia will supply China with more than 100 million tons of coal, and in 2022, 67 million tons.
