On Tuesday, together with the new Dutch cabinet, he was sworn in by King Willem-Alexander in The Hague, after which he assumed his duties as Prime Minister.
As Dutch analyst Joost Niemoller told RIA Novosti, Schow, as head of the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD), established good connections with the White House.
Niemöller also claims that “Dick Schof is the man who has always been behind Rutte” and that “he has a large intelligence database.”
When Mark Rutte did not know what decision to make, Niemöller says, he asked his subordinates to call Dick: “Let’s see what Dick says,” the prime minister said.
In addition, “Rutte consulted with Dick Schof several times a week… Therefore, the appointment of this person as prime minister will not bring much change” in the country’s politics.
Prior to his appointment to senior office, Schof worked as Secretary General at the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security and previously headed the country’s intelligence services.
Schov is also reported to have been involved in the investigation into the circumstances of the 2014 crash of a Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam in the Donbass.
Elder Schov still runs marathons.
