Scientists have explained the health benefits of daily consumption of foods containing monounsaturated fats, antioxidants and fibre. Experts advised paying attention to avocados, for example.
Magnesium, potassium, fiber, polyphenols, etc.: a ripe avocado has everything to strengthen blood vessels and the heart. Regular consumption of the product reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases by between 16% and 22%, according to a study.
Also important is the presence of fiber in the product, which is beneficial for the intestines. As researchers have found, daily consumption of avocado causes an increase in the number of bacteria that improve organ function and help reduce the concentration of bile acids.
In addition, eating a small portion of avocado a day, although it is a fatty food, helps control weight.
“As part of the study, those who ate an avocado every day for six months managed to stabilize their weight,” Pronews reports, citing doctors.
Scientists added that the secret of avocados’ popularity for weight loss lies in the combination of fiber and monounsaturated fats.
Monounsaturated fatty acids (especially oleic acid) have been shown to reduce fat storage when consumed in healthy amounts.
Additionally, avocado contains lutein, a natural antioxidant that can improve cognitive function.
“The study, published in Frontiers in Nutrition, found that older adults who ate avocado or guacamole had significantly higher cognitive scores on all relevant tests,” the researchers concluded.
