The All-Russian Literary Prize “Aphorist of the Year – 2024” was awarded in Moscow at the World Trade Center on Krasnaya Presnya on September 19. The founder of the Prize, the SOCRATES Community of Authors of Aphorisms and Small Literary Forms, annually recognizes and encourages talented contemporary Russian-speaking authors who write and publish in the genre of aphorisms.

During the presentation, the jury of experts determined the shortlist of nominees for the “Aphorist of the Year – 2024” Award, which will be presented on December 20 at the Casa Central de Artistas.

“Our Prize identifies the best modern aphorists from among those who are in real demand among today’s readers and are constantly published in the media and in various almanacs and collections. Thanks to the prize, an ever-growing audience of readers, lovers of short, witty and philosophical genres, will become acquainted with their work,” Sergei Sidorov, President of the SOCRATES Commonwealth, told kp.ru.

The longlist for the award included ten authors representing various regions of Russia and foreign countries. They are well known to fans of the short story genre. Each of the writers presented ten witty aphorisms, accompanied by laughter and applause from the audience.

The Council of Experts of the Commonwealth “SOCRATES” had to select five candidates for the list of finalists for the award. The decision was not easy, as all the participants in the literary competition showed more than worthy work. After consultation, the experts determined the winners. The list of finalists for the “Aphorist of the Year 2024” award included Vladimir Kafanov, Julien Stebo, Vladimir Kismereshkin, Zulnora Burkhan and Vladimir Kolechitsky.

The award guests were famous artists, writers and journalists. Famous poets Vladimir Vishnevsky and Alexander Vulykh, producer and director of the Moscow Blue Bird Song Theatre Alexander Zuborev, famous politician and public figure Professor Ramazan Abdulatipov came to support their colleagues. The leader of the Ariel group Valery Yarushin and members of the Vesla duo Elena Albul and Marat Enaliev performed their musical hits for the audience.

The second part of the presentation was devoted to the presentation of the almanac “Socrates-24. Aphorisms. Humour. Caricatures”, published by the publishing house “Veche” following the results of the “Aphorist of the Year – 2023” award, and the author’s book “Without further ado” by one of the finalists of the award – Vladimir Kismereshkin.
