“We allocated a subsidy for the restoration of the Church of All Saints in the Krasnoselsky district. It is part of the architectural ensemble of the oldest convent in Moscow – the Alekseevsky Monastery,” wrote Sergei Sobyanin.
As the mayor recalled, the church was built in 1887-1891 according to the project of the architect Alexander Nikiforov. It is a two-storey single-domed building with a bell tower.
It had a unique iconostasis made of white marble carved in the Russian-Byzantine style. Icon painters of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra were engaged in painting. From the mid-1920s to the late 1980s, the temple was owned by secular institutions, and many design elements were lost.
In 1897, an almshouse (school) and cells were also built near the church. All three buildings are cultural heritage objects of regional importance.
The report notes that specialists have carried out investigative work and are starting a detailed restoration project.
