Some 63 percent of the respondents stated that they drink coffee regularly and 59 percent consume tea. More than 533 million packs of coffee were bought in supermarkets in the year to March, compared to 287 million packs of tea. According to the British Coffee Association, residents drink around 98 million cups of coffee every day.
Food expert Edie Smith noted that it is possible to serve coffee with more flavor variations. This led to the fact that it became so popular among the population.
Analysts note the dynamics of coffee consumption in the UK. So residents drank 95 million cups a day in 2018 and 70 in 2008. Many young Britons probably consider drinking tea obsolete. Instant coffee still makes up the majority of consumption.
