SUAI welcomes its freshmen – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: September 8, 2024 Time: 05:21:51

At the end of summer, on August 31, the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation welcomed more than 3,500 freshmen at the solemn assembly in honor of Knowledge Day. The exciting admission period is behind us: the kids are taking their first steps in their professional lives.

– The 2023 admission campaign turned out to be one of the most successful for the university. We managed to maintain a leading position in St. Petersburg in the ranking of technical and engineering universities. Thus, the competition for the full-time department amounted to 31 applications for a position. Throughout the year we carry out active work on career guidance, modernize digital services and create all conditions for a comfortable learning experience for our students,” said SUAI Rector Yulia Antokhina.

The innovations did not overlook the organization of the ceremonial line. Since 1941, since the founding of SUAI, students have placed flowers at the Chesme Palace. For the first time, on Knowledge Day, freshmen were invited to sing the university anthem. And Catherine II, accompanied by SUAI 2023 Nikita Bocharov and Elena Kovaleva, gave the keys to the building to the admitted students. This is a very symbolic process, because it was by order of the empress that the traveling palace was erected in honor of Russia’s victory in the Chesma naval battle.

– This year our university has a new format to keep in line. After the official ceremony, a competition festival was held for the first time at SUAI, organized by participants from public associations. To get to know each other better, they prepared educational and entertaining quizzes, lectures, quizzes and games for the children. In addition, we rewarded first-year students who scored high on the Unified State Exam with memorable nickels from the All-Russian student competition “Your Movement,” noted Larisa Nikolaeva, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy of SUAI.

According to the results of the 2023 admission campaign, among SUAI freshmen there are many students with high scores on the Unified State Exam. They worked hard to sign up and are now excited to delve into the basics of their future careers.

– I knew from the seventh grade that I wanted to go into programming, I loved computer science lessons at school. When it came time to choose a college, I spent a lot of time searching for a program that would help me make my aspirations a reality. At SUAI I was interested in the field of “Programming, data analysis and digital transformation of systems”, which I enrolled in. Personal history also influenced the choice of university: my uncle studied here,” said Maxim Belov, a first-year student at the Institute of Aerospace Instruments and Systems, who scored 98 points on the unified state exam in mathematics and 95 in computer science.
