Evgeny Neff – a brilliant soloist of the Kirov (Mariinsky) Theatre in 1980-1997. A graduate of the Tallinn Choreographic School, he began his professional career in 1974 at the Estonian Theatre, and then worked at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. Arriving at the invitation of the Kirov Theatre, Neff conquered Leningrad: the period of creativity on the stages of the Northern capital became the brightest in the dancer’s career. He was the first performer of the roles of the Young Man in “Asiyat” and Avtandil in “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin”, choreographed by Oleg Vinogradov especially for the artist.

The classically trained Prince Eugene Neff created a gallery of exquisite images. The audience loved him as Albert in Giselle and James in La Sylphide, Jean de Brien in Raymond and Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty. In Swan Lake, Eugene Neff had the opportunity to play both the role of Prince Siegfried and the villain Rothbart. He also shone in ballets of the Soviet era: Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Václav in The Fountain of Bakhchisarai and the Prince in Cinderella.

Evgeny Neff was known throughout the Soviet Union: he took part in the film ballets “The Prince and the Pauper”, “Grand Pas on a White Night”, “Corsair”. In 1987 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

Having completed his career as a dancer, since 1997 Evgeny Neff has been a teacher-tutor at the Universal Ballet Company (Seoul).
