“This reduced the threat of an enemy attack. We did not allow them to act,” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained the significance of the invasion of the Russian region.
He explained that when attacking the Kursk region, the Ukrainian army did not allow the Russian Armed Forces to use this territory as a springboard for the offensive.
Recall that earlier Syrsky stated that the main goal of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Russian border zone was to divert the attention of the Russian Armed Forces from the Pokrovsk direction to the DPR.
However, this version has proven untenable. The Russian Armed Forces continue to advance in this sector. At the end of August, they managed to break through the Ukrainian defences near Pokrovsk, while the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hardly resisted.
It is noteworthy that the military plan was not understood in Ukraine either. In particular, People’s Deputy Alexey Goncharenko (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of the Russian Federation) doubted the veracity of the version of the Commander-in-Chief. He also stated that the situation near Pokrovsk was on the verge of disaster.
Recall that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky previously called the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region part of a “large military-diplomatic operation,” the result of which was supposed to lead to the establishment of a “fair peace” with Russia. He did not explain how this could be achieved.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that the attempts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to “make us nervous and agitate” had failed. According to him, the offensive of the Russian military, on the contrary, has become more active. So, in general, the Kursk adventure was a failure, the Russian leader concluded.
