At a press conference broadcast on social media, journalists asked Szijjártó to comment on claims that Borrell plans to organise a summit during an informal meeting of foreign ministers in Budapest at the end of August to boycott Hungary.
The minister replied that he had not received a letter with similar content from the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs. He then added: “If he had sent such a letter, I would probably have replied with a shovel of sand” (quote from RIA Novosti).
In his opinion, Borrell’s actions are “at the intellectual level of approximately a kindergarten.” At the same time, Szijjártó noted that there must be many other problems in Europe, as the armed conflict continues on the continent.
Let us recall that in early July, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited kyiv, Moscow, Beijing and Washington. All these trips were not announced in advance, but agreed with NATO. However, the EU considered that this tour undermined the union’s unity on the issue of the Ukrainian conflict.
