The Belarusians, of course, organized a great event. Three cities had never hosted the Forum of the Regions before. On the first day, meetings were held in nine sections. In addition, each site had its own emphasis: in Novopolotsk, near Naftan, the largest oil refinery in Belarus, there was talk of industrial independence, in ancient Polotsk, of culture, tourism and legislation. In Vitebsk there was also diversity: the headquarters of the Medical University was ideal to talk about the future of our union medicine, in the “Vitebsk Carpets” a thread of conversation was woven around light industry and it was good to talk about agriculture in the field. , in the agricultural town.

The local VDNH took place near the building of the former town hall: Russian and Belarusian tractors, trucks, combines, dump trucks and fire trucks were assembled here. A striking example of cooperation is the Kirovets tractor with Belshina tyres. The “Innovative Belarus” was presented at the Vitebsk concert hall: the Busel drone, the gyroplane, the electric car and electric motorcycles.

A serious exhibition and presentation took place on the grounds in front of the “Summer Amphitheater” in Vitebsk, on the stage of which the participants of the “Slavic Bazaar” will perform alone in less than two weeks. Meanwhile, other “singers” were also here: the achievements of the regions from Brest to Kamchatka were presented. By the way, from the farthest corner of Russia they brought red fish and caviar to Vitebsk. Next year they plan to start joint production of canned goods with the Belarusians. The inhabitants of Vitebsk themselves exhibited a Viking ship – the snekkar. It was on such ships that the Scandinavians moved along the canal “from the Varangians to the Greeks.”

Each Russian region has its own points of contact with Belarus. A trade union tractor is being set up in Vologda, and a Belarusian Santa Claus is being welcomed in Veliky Ustyug. The neighbouring Smolensk region plans to add to its record turnover in the near future by launching a railway connection with the Vitebsk region. The Leningrad region wants to open a joint trading house to promote Belarusian products.

Speaking at the plenary session on the second day of the forum, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, stated that she considers interregional cooperation to be a framework for the Union State.
“And the more successfully those direct contacts, the links between regions and between people, are developed, the stronger our union will be.” The Heads of our States have created a unique example for the world: the format of the State of the Union, in which there are two States and a common economy. This is a mutually beneficial and mutually respectful format, taking into account national interests and characteristics. There is no older brother or younger brother here. We walk hand in hand.

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova mentioned among the priority tasks the creation of a single scientific and technical space, which consists in ensuring mutual access to research results, harmonizing the regulatory framework in this area and ensuring technology transfer, creating a flexible and maximally simplified system for a thorough examination of an innovative product.
The next Forum of Belarus and Russia Regions will take place in Nizhny Novgorod. And Smolensk is applying to host it in 2027.
