“According to updated information, the area of the fire is currently approximately 30,000 square meters. Extinguishing work is continuing,” the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
Information about a fire at a solid waste landfill near the village of Skorodum, Gorodets Municipal District, appeared at around 5 pm on Sunday. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The investigation is under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
Rospotrebnadzor specialists are now working at the site of the emergency. They are examining the air in the areas closest to the landfill. Residents are advised not to open windows and to wear masks and respirators when going outside.
