On July 15, the Prometheus Audiovisual Art Support Foundation, together with the Smena Center for Contemporary Culture, will resume the Light and Music Audiovisual Art Festival in the Kazanorgsintez plant area. The program includes four original representatives of the modern scene from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Kazan, working at the intersection of auditory and visual art.
The guests are waiting for the performance of the experimental producer and audiovisual artist Flaty with the presentation of the new album, the musician Fjordwalrker, who has already made the citizens of Kazan fall in love, mixing current electronics in his work, as well as Long Arm, a multi-instrumentalist from San Petersburg. One of the most significant events of the program is the collaboration of a young Kazan Holophone artist and Kazan media artist Nadia Kimeliar, created especially for the festival.
An important part of the evening will be an experimental installation of light media created on the basis of the works of the Research Institute “Prometheus” and the archives of the “Kazanorgsintez” plant. On a special festival shuttle that will connect KOS and the Smena Center for Contemporary Culture, you will be able to listen to the one-episode podcast “How the synthesis of light and sound changed 20th century art”, recorded by the musician, journalist and author from the Planettronics Nick Zavriev podcast.
As part of the festival, Shining Record Store will present a special selection of Electrochemical, which will include the latest releases from national independent labels and iconic electronic music albums. “Light and Music” will officially restart the first Soviet audiovisual festival, which was organized by the employees of the Research Institute of Experimental Aesthetics “Prometheus” in Kazan in the years 1960-1990.
