Boeing has been struggling financially for five years since crashes of its two 737 Max planes in late 2018 and early 2019 grounded its best-selling model for 20 months. The corporation has also been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to a near-total shutdown of air travel for months and heavy losses for most airlines that buy its planes. Since the suspension of operations began in 2019, Boeing has reported adjusted losses totaling more than $31 billion, and financial analysts predict they will only grow.
