The guest arrived in Saransk for the interregional forum “Parole in Russia”. Recall that this year the federal law on parole (a set of measures for the social adaptation of former convicts – editor’s note) came into force. According to Konstantin Chuychenko, the meaning of the changes is the humanization of the penal system: “In everything related to the preparation of people for release, their life in society, the control component has always been in the first place. With the adoption of the law on parole, the control component has always been in the first place. “The humanitarian component has come into play.”
The Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation noted that Mordovia is actively involved in the parole system. On the same day, Konstantin Chuychenko, Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Arkady Gostev and other guests of the forum visited the penitentiary center of the Romodanovsky company. Currently, 39 people work there and live in a guest house that has everything necessary. According to the results of the first half of the year, the Romodanovsky district took first place in the ranking of penitentiary centers in Mordovia. It has the lowest rate of disciplinary violations and the highest percentage of those who are granted parole. The guests were told that the average salary of prisoners was 54.5 thousand rubles. And for those who work as loaders of a warehouse of finished products – more than 100 thousand rubles. By the way, after serving their sentence, prisoners can continue to work here – they are provided with accommodation in a dormitory. After his release, nine people were still working at the company.
“This format of work shows that we are moving in the right direction,” Konstantin Chuychenko shared his impressions of what he saw. “The main goal is being achieved: reducing recidivism by preparing people for a new life.”
