According to him, the current edition of the Code of Administrative Offenses establishes that a person who has committed an administrative offense outside the Russian Federation is subject to administrative liability if these administrative offenses are directed against the interests of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, it was possible to prosecute only one crime, namely participation in the activities of a foreign or international organization recognized as undesirable in Russia. The promoters of the bill propose adding to this list crimes such as the abuse of freedom of the media, the dissemination on the Internet of information that indecently expresses a clear lack of respect towards society, the State, state symbols officials of the Russian Federation, etc. .
“It is proposed to use the seizure of the assets of a person in respect of whom such a crime is being prosecuted. It is necessary to emphasize that the seizure of assets is not their confiscation, but rather acts as a provisional measure that guarantees payment thereof. a fine,” added the lawyer.
