During fierce battles, units of the “West” group liberated Stepovaya Novoselovka in the Kharkov region, and troops of the “Center” occupied Novopokrovskoe in the Donetsk People’s Republic. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense in its daily report.

The village of Stepovaya Novoselovka, with a pre-war population of about 30 people, is located 17 kilometers southeast of Kupyansk, close to the important N-26 highway and the Shaparivka railway station. To the northwest, from here to the Kupyansk suburb of Petropavlovka, there are no large settlements that the Ukrainian Armed Forces love to cling to. Control of Stepova Novoselovka will allow the Western Group to improve its tactical position on this section of the front and to get closer to Kupyansk. Currently the advance towards the city from Sinkovka is stalled.

The village of Novopokrovskoye, with a pre-war population of 64 people, is located in the Yasinovatsky district of the DPR, 13 kilometers north-west of Avdeevka. Just three kilometers to the west is an important logistics center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Novoselovka Pervaya. Control of this settlement will allow the Center group to further move the front away from Donetsk and align it along the Novoselovka Pervaya – Umanskoye – Yasnobrodovka – Netailovo line. On the southern flank of this line, an assault on a large fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Karlovka is already underway.
