The scammers started tricking the police: a story about microphones, wiretaps and English bricks

Date: September 19, 2024 Time: 11:21:35

Our reader named “Investigator Tarasov” sent us another story about fraud. I think that Comrade Tarasov is a real investigator, which is evident from the police style of his letter: “effective”, etc. One must think that the investigator’s stories are also genuine.

So, policeman Egor Egorovich Begemotov (full name changed), who had a high rank and money (in common people, money), decided to build a country house. He came to the construction office, signed a contract and made an advance payment. And then, a couple of days later, the deputy director of this company, Mastodontov, calls him and informs him that there is a profitable offer for Yegor Yegorovich. Here, after the renovation of the English embassy, the partners were left with a batch of very high-quality bricks. The brick is not only better than stated in the contract, but also cheaper! And that is why there are already many hunters for this batch of bricks. But if Begemotov transfers 500 thousand right now, then the match will be ours.

– Won’t these partners deceive you? – asked Yegor Yegorovich, – There are scammers everywhere right now.

– How can you, Yegor Yegorovich! – the deputy replied. – I immediately told my partners who you are and what your rank is.

Yegor Yegorovich smiled at these pleasant words and began to transfer money. And Mastodontov confirmed its receipt.

Having plunged into the whirlwind of law enforcement affairs, including the fight against fraud, Yegor Yegorovich almost forgot about that English brick. And only after some time, in a business conversation with Mastodontov, Begemotov remembered the transfer of 500 thousand rubles.

– What translation? What brick? What English embassy?! – Mastodontov could not understand anything.

It was then that it turned out that a fraudster had called Begemotov on behalf of Mastodontov and the money went to the fraudster. But the fraudster spoke to Begemotov so convincingly, discussing all sorts of details of the construction, that it became clear that this fraudster was clearly present in the construction office when Begemotov was discussing the project with the builders. Therefore, the first thing they did was to suspect everyone involved in the deal. But soon a similar story occurred in the ritual field, when a fraudster called the client on behalf of the cemetery authorities, told him in detail about the contract and stole the money. The same thing happened at the car service center.

The investigation finally revealed the following picture: a fraudster disguised as a client arrives at an office, installs microphones in the meeting room or at the reception desk, and then, sitting nearby in a car, takes off his wig and glasses, listens to and records all the details of the negotiations between the client and the contractor.

So, a piece of advice: before starting any business negotiation somewhere or with someone, look under the table, under the chair, under the sofa.
