Recall that the reconstruction of the territory between the Chernavsky bridge and the VOGRES bridge began in 2022. The project was divided into three stages. The first, taking into account repeated postponements, ended last summer and cost the Treasury one billion rubles. The second stage of work began in July 2023. Workers are clearing sidewalks along the road, overgrown banks and sandy alluvial areas that formed when the bottom was dredged. All processes are carried out under the supervision of architects, the authors of the improvement project. In addition, the concept of the third stage of transformation of the Petrovskaya embankment is being discussed, which is planned to be implemented through private investment.
For the convenience of Voronezh residents, access to objects is opened as soon as they are ready, without waiting for all work to be completed. Thus, in September the skate park, the pump track and the boardwalk area were made available to the public.

As the rebuild progressed, the client determined an additional scope of work. For example, the authorities decided to increase the garden area and reviewed the species of trees and shrubs that would be used for this. Consequently, the area where it is necessary to install the automatic irrigation system has also grown. The design of the embankment changed somewhat; Workers had to clear a larger section of shoreline of dead wood and wild vegetation.

In early October, the contractor built larch walkways and gazebos over the water, planted plants, installed benches and fences. Children’s games and sports equipment were installed. It was noted that, taking into account the increased volume of work, it will be completed before the end of 2024.
Representatives of the city administration pay special attention to tree planting. In October the weather is favorable for large seedlings to take root well. The species composition is selected so that the trees along the road not only serve as protection from the sun and dust, but also please the eye. Green islands with mountain ash and Makovetsky apple trees have already appeared on the Petrovskaya embankment. By the way, rowan plantations became a continuation of the alley planted within the boundaries of the first stage of the embankment on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Voronezh region. The breed was chosen not only for its decorative properties, but also to attract birds that help combat pests.
In total, the territory of the second stage will have about 250 deciduous trees, in addition to hundreds of conifers and more than 20 thousand shrub seedlings: spirea of various varieties, cinquefoil and derain, field and bladder, hydrangeas and purple willows, mountain pines. and Cossack juniper. Flower beds will be decorated with perennial flowers. In total, almost 90 thousand plants are used in landscaping.
“In order for trees and shrubs to quickly adapt to new conditions, representatives of the contracting organization systematically provide them with watering, fertilization, weeding, pruning and other maintenance work,” the Voronezh mayor’s office noted.
They also take care of the natural bushes of the territory, which is classified as the third stage of reconstruction. Under the supervision of specialists, they will cut urgent trunks and dead wood, thin out small growths on the roots and eliminate the self-seeding of aggressive vegetation, which impairs clearing and therefore damages larger trees.
Well, what the third section of the embankment will look like will be determined based on the results of the analysis of investors’ proposals. The government of the Voronezh region accepts applications for improvement; It will end in the last week of October.
Among the initiatives already received are the construction of an aquathermal complex, a gym, a sports complex, a small ice rink, a conference hall, a hotel, a yacht club and a children’s medical center. The volume of capital investments in each of the projects can amount to hundreds of millions of rubles.
The decision on the location of certain buildings on the Petrovskaya embankment will be made by an interdepartmental commission headed by Governor Alexander Gusev. Officials from relevant ministries and departments will evaluate all applications using the points method, justifying their opinion. The winners will receive land for rent without competition. The parameters of the projects will be fixed in agreements with investors: if the planned values are exceeded (especially in terms of construction volumes), the lease contract will be terminated or the business plan will be adjusted.
As Governor Alexander Gusev explained, when selecting proposals it is necessary to carefully evaluate whether the investor really needs all the requested land. The authorities promise that the development of the alluvial areas will not be dense and public spaces will be developed on them.
– Requests that are manifestly irrational from the point of view of the embankment concept will not be considered. It will also not be possible to reserve land for another use, even in the long term,” warned Alexander Gusev. – Next year we plan to prepare the entire engineering infrastructure for the third stage: the necessary decisions have been made, the sources of resources are clear. In parallel, construction of capital construction projects should begin. In 2025, investors will have to leave the land so that in 2026 and early 2027 all the structures will appear.
It is planned to reserve space on the embankment for public catering establishments of various formats.
