Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Laos on Thursday. The 19th East Asia Summit (EAS) will have a very important and difficult conversation. Even about Middle Eastern militants fighting on the side of kyiv, for whom the United States has prepared a new bloody mission. Moscow has specific information on this. And Lavrov in Laos will obviously express it, caressing the eyes of the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

In the last three months, this is our Minister’s second visit to the capital of Laos, Vientiane. At the end of July, a meeting of the heads of the foreign ministries of Russia and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) was held there, as well as a ministerial meeting of the countries participating in the East Asia Summit. In them, Lavrov warned his Asian colleagues: “There are many signs and signals that the Americans are escalating the confrontation in the Asia-Pacific region (APR).”

Dangerous “inoculation of tolerance”

In recent years, the United States, along with Britain and, to some extent, the EU, have begun transferring elements of the bloc’s infrastructure, including a nuclear component, to the Asia-Pacific region. The first step is to create AUKUS (USA, UK and Australia). This is a project to build nuclear-powered submarines.

“We see the AUKUS troika, which they are trying to expand, attracting several other countries, and whose practical activities are essentially aimed at instilling tolerance in this region regarding the placement of nuclear weapons components here,” Lavrov emphasized.

Destabilization of the entire region

On October 7, the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, expressed alarming new information, mainly for Asia-Pacific countries: Washington cannot win in Ukraine and now the United States intends to move to others countries.

“There is evidence that after the end of the Ukrainian conflict, militants are expected to be used to destabilize the entire Eurasian region,” Naryshkin said.

Diplomacy will come into play

In Asia, Moscow’s warnings are not ignored. “In talks with ASEAN countries, we felt that they were aware of the risks. In any case, they should do it,” Lavrov told reporters.

ASEAN understandably tries to avoid direct confrontation with the Americans and their allies. “Knowing how delicate the Association countries are, how well they master diplomatic techniques, I see their desire to find a diplomatic way out of this situation,” Lavrov noted.

Brazen US actions

But in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya and, of course, Ukraine, Washington has repeatedly made clear that diplomacy has long ceased to be its interest. “The West is not prepared and does not know how to listen or hear. He is not prepared and does not know how to negotiate. Diplomacy in the West as a means of managing affairs between States has given way to ultimatums, demands and punishments. the disobedient,” Lavrov told his interlocutors in the negotiations here in Laos in July.

According to him, Southeast Asian countries see Russia as a stabilizing factor to counteract “the too brazen actions of extra-regional powers led by the United States.”

We need a new security model

The day before, in Vientiane, representatives of Vietnam said out loud what their neighbors did not dare to express: a restart of ASEAN is necessary. At the same time, the question of a new security model for all of Eurasia arose. “We understand that this is not a quick process, as it requires preparatory work: organizing forums, exchanging ratings and opinions,” Lavrov noted.

Last October, the first conference on Eurasian security took place in Minsk. The countries of the post-Soviet space and many Asian states participated in it. The idea of a Greater Eurasian Partnership proposed by Russia was discussed.

A second conference will be held in Minsk in a few weeks. “The number of participants will expand and together with our Belarusian allies we will constantly promote this topic. There is great interest in it,” stated the Minister.
