The US authorities refused to issue a visa to the Russian delegate to participate in a meeting of the Information Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York. This was stated by the first deputy permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the organization, Dmitry Polyansky.
“Once again we are forced to start our speech in the Information Committee with the question that the American side continues to systematically abuse the position of the country hosting the UN headquarters,” RIA Novosti quotes Polyansky.
“The participation of the representative of the Russian delegation in the 46th session of the Information Committee of the UN General Assembly was again interrupted due to the fact that he was not granted a visa, despite the timely submission of documents” , he added, pointing out that this is a serious violation of obligations on the part of the United States.
Polyansky also expressed hope that the UN Secretariat and the relevant structures of the organization will take measures “to radically correct such an unacceptable situation.”
