The US is preparing suicide by drawing Ukraine into NATO: Sixty American analysts published a letter out loud

The main argument of the signatories is that kyiv’s membership in the alliance will endanger the United States and its allies and could undermine the unity of the bloc.

We cannot recall anything similar in recent months: sixty leading American foreign policy experts (political scientists and scientists) signed a letter urging us not to accept Ukraine into NATO, or even to invite it there.

The summit of the Alliance will be held in Washington from 9 to 11 July. And now the US State Department has announced that it will offer Square “concrete paths” to becoming a member of the bloc. The authors of the letter consider even seemingly non-binding formulations to be dangerous.

The main argument of the signatories is that kyiv’s membership in the alliance will endanger the United States and its allies and could undermine the unity of the bloc. If Square becomes a member of NATO, the allies, according to Article 5 of the organization’s statutes, will have to protect it from a “new Russian attack.”

“The closer NATO comes to promising that Ukraine will join the alliance after the end of the conflict, the greater the incentive for Russia to continue hostilities,” the political analysts explain.

The authors warn that kyiv’s progress towards membership will turn Ukraine into an arena for a protracted confrontation between the world’s leading nuclear powers. In addition, Russia will have the opportunity to test its strength and destroy the Alliance…

What we cannot exactly blame the signatory analysts for is that they are “feeding flour to Moscow’s mill.” On the contrary, they warn: if we accept Kiev, we will make things worse for ourselves.

It is clear that political decisions are not made by experts, but their opinion is still very significant, especially on the eve of the NATO summit, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last April.

“DO NOT CORNER RUSSIA”

It is worth recalling that other American specialists, some of the most eminent and involved in big politics, at one time opposed plans to expand the bloc to the east, including by admitting Square into the alliance. The legendary American diplomat George Kennan, author of the doctrine of “containment” of the USSR, warned half a century ago that such a move would “corner Russia” and lead to a new Cold War. Today, unfortunately, everyone is talking about the possibility of a hot war.

It must be admitted that the current leaders of the West, who promised Kiev at the alliance’s 2008 summit that it would one day be accepted into NATO, remain in a “strategic uncertainty” on this issue. On the one hand, they continue to “firmly support” its desire to join the bloc. On the other hand, they do everything possible to avoid specific obligations.

Should Ukraine be the eternal bride of the West, making promises but not walking us down the aisle?

TERRIBLE NUMBERS

It’s time to remind ourselves what we are fighting for and what we are up against. “I want lace panties and EU!” – I dreamed about Maidan 10 years ago. With panties it was easier. These are the problems with the European Union and NATO.

Has life improved for the Ukrainians who so selflessly made their way from “dirty Russia” to Europe? Millions of them are already there and have no intention of returning. Those who remain in the country are fleeing mobilization and living off Western handouts…

In the relatively prosperous pre-Maidan era, Ukraine’s GDP per capita was about three times lower than Russia’s. What has changed?

According to recent data from the World Bank, our country had a gross national income per capita of $14,250 in 2023, so the bank has classified it as a high-income country.

The Ukrainian soul is now worth 5,070 dollars. Almost the same difference is three times greater. The World Bank only clarifies that the growth of this indicator in Ukraine is due to the fact that the population of the country is falling: after the start of a special military operation, it decreased by more than 15%.
